In a recent article in Successful Meetings,  Matt Alderton summarized the findings of the IMEX America Index of Optimism, released recently by The IMEX Group. It shows that Meeting Planners are looking forward to increases in budget and total meetings. As much as 58% of planners saw a slight increase in budget while about 8% saw a significant increase. When asked what these increases could suggest, IMEX Group Chairman, Ray Bloom, says; “Our experience, and that of our North American partners, is that the big picture is healthy and moving in a positive direction. This is also evidenced by the increases in demand we’re already seeing from exhibitors…” When asked about CSR and green meeting practices, however, planners were much more passive. 38% expected no change in their planning or operational practices, agreeing with the statement “it already underpins everything that we do.” 23%  admitted they “are aware it’s important but don’t yet have programs in place.”
